Very early on a bright morning on July 13, 2013 in a campground just north of Victoria, BC, Ed woke me up (after not sleeping at all) saying that we would have to leave shortly in order to catch our ferry to Vancouver.
He insisted that I wear something nice (he always likes to look nice if we're going to be in public).
We got to the ferry dock in time to catch an earlier ferry than the one we reserved, but Ed said he wanted to walk around a bit and that we had enough time to wait for our scheduled ferry.
There were a bunch of cute little market stands where we bought a few souveniers before we got on the ferry.
After boarding, I was surprised by a bridge tour! He had aparently booked this in advance so it was a really neat surprise. We got to see the control centre of this HUGE ferry (5 floors!). It was floor to ceiling glass walls and even gad sections of glass floor to be able to see below.
After a few minutes of touring around, I was asked if I wanted to sit in the Captains Chair (and of course I said YES!). I was looking thought binoculars at a few sailboats in the bay and the nall of a sudden all of the crew members were standing in front of me Ed was beside me with the ring. It was really fantastic to have everyone taking pictures of the proposal.
Although being completely stunned and overwhelmed, I didn't let my emotions get the better of me until the first mate stopped me as we were leavng the bridge to give me the nautical coordinates of the proposal. That's what it took to get me all teared up.
Well done Ed! I was truely swept off my feet. |
